How, and how often, do you back up your servers? Print

Great question, and one that should be asked of any host that you consider doing business with. We're very proud of our backup policy and infrastructure!

How Often

Every 6 hours, so 4x in every 24 hour period, and we retain the backups for 7 days. At any moment in time you will have access to almost 30 snapshots of your files and databases.

How

We make use of the Acronis CyberProtect solution. For us, the huge advantage of this software is that it permits us to do point-in-time restores of anything from an individual file right up to an entire server. For you, there's the comfort and convenience of knowing that you can restore files, directories, and MySQL databases from any of the almost 30 snapshots that we retain.

Backups are stored offsite, AES-256 encrypted, on dedicated storage servers in a completely different data center (and country!) from our web servers. They are then replicated to a second offsite destination. Just one more way that we take protecting your data extremely seriously.

Please see this article for more information on restoring your own files and databases.
